Construction Dumpster Rental across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida
A job site does not make one kind of waste. Demolition comes out heavy — concrete, block, brick, tile — then framing and drywall come out light and bulky, then the finish phase is packaging and offcuts. We size each phase on its own: a 10 or 15 for the heavy stuff, a 30 or 40 for the bulk, and a swap schedule so the crew never waits on a full box. Many contractors here use a 20 for remodeling and a 30 or 40 for new construction and demolition.
In Florida the sorting matters. Construction and demolition debris means things like steel, glass, brick, concrete, asphalt roofing, pipe, drywall and lumber from building, renovating or tearing down a structure, plus the rocks, soil and trees from clearing a construction site (F.S. 403.703(6)). Mix household garbage into it and the whole load is no longer C&D, and a C&D facility can only take C&D debris (FDEP Rule 62-701.730(4)(a)). A clean, separated load and a box sized for the weight both keep the job on budget. The Jacksonville permit guide covers the street paperwork.

Demolition, framing, roofing and finish
Demolition debris is where the weight is. Concrete, block, brick, asphalt and tile go in the smaller containers because of transport weight limits, and in Atlantic Beach the city code caps a roll-off used for concrete, soil or other heavy debris at 20 cubic yards (Sec. 16-8(d)(4)). Framing and drywall go in 20s and 30s. Shingle roofs go in a 10, 15 or 20 depending on the size of the roof.
Asbestos is a state matter. FDEP wants a Notice of Demolition at least 10 working days before demolition of a building covered by the federal asbestos rule — even when no asbestos is present — and in Duval County it is filed with the City's Environmental Quality Division (Air Quality Branch, 904-255-7100). The fee is $200, or $100 filed and paid online. Single homes and buildings of four or fewer units are generally exempt, but not if they are part of a larger project, were used commercially, or are coming down to make room for a commercial building. Regulated asbestos may not go into a C&D disposal unit (Rule 62-701.730(19)), so it never goes in a roll-off. We will ask what the building is before we quote a demo job.
Job-site placement and the City of Jacksonville
On a private lot we place where the driver can reach it and the crew can load it. If the container has to sit in a City street, sidewalk or right-of-way, Ordinance Code Sec. 744.110 needs a Right-of-Way permit from Public Works first — $191 for a commercial job, $127 residential, doubled if work starts before the permit is issued. Contractors doing that kind of right-of-way work keep an annual $50,000 surety bond or letter of credit on file (Sec. 744.110(c)(2)) and need an approved Maintenance of Traffic plan for any equipment storage that affects traffic or pedestrians. Questions go to the Development Services Review Group, 214 N. Hogan St., (904) 255-8310. On a state road the right-of-way is FDOT's, and FDOT's rules give no permit path for a roll-off. Debris from a contractor's work is the contractor's to remove (Sec. 380.207), and after a fire, windstorm or demolition the Building Official can give an owner five days' written notice to clear debris from the lot and the street (Sec. 320.102(b)).

Construction dumpster rental — the local specifics
Several codes put construction debris in writing. Jacksonville Beach says contractor's debris from building, rebuilding or altering must be removed by the owner or the contractor doing the work (Sec. 27-26), and Neptune Beach (Sec. 11-118(a)) and Baldwin (Sec. 9-10) say the same. Orange Park lets only the town franchisee or a town-licensed construction cleanup contractor collect there (Sec. 28-26). Green Cove Springs requires a city franchise for temporary C&D roll-off service, keeps containers on private property unless the city manager authorizes otherwise, and names Rosemary Hill as the disposal site (Sec. 66-11). In St. Johns County, C&D debris has to be kept in containers at the job site — no wire 'pig pens' — and debris left on the ground more than seven days is a public nuisance (Ord. 2017-39, Sec. 12). Fernandina Beach wants construction site dumpsters inside the fence and removed before a certificate of occupancy is issued (Sec. 22-261). Every town page quotes the section.

Answers
Construction Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Do you do swap-outs?
Yes. We pull the full container and drop an empty. Most multi-week jobs set up scheduled swaps at the start, and contractors with several sites can line up rotations across them.
Can I mix concrete with other debris?
You can, but it costs you. Concrete fills the weight allowance long before the box looks full, so heavy debris may need a separate container or different pricing. We usually run a 10 or 15 for rubble alongside a bigger box for the rest. Uncontaminated concrete with embedded pipe or steel counts as clean debris under Florida law, so it does not need to be stripped.
Can you deliver to a site with no address yet?
Yes — give us the nearest cross streets and a site contact, and we will coordinate timing and placement with your project manager before the truck goes out.
Do I need a permit for a container on a Jacksonville job site?
Not for the container on your own lot, as far as the City's published code says. You need a Public Works Right-of-Way permit if the box will sit in a City street, sidewalk or right-of-way, FDOT has the say on a state road (and gives no permit path for a roll-off), and FDEP wants a Notice of Demolition 10 working days ahead for covered buildings. We flag it when you book.
Which towns restrict construction haulers?
Orange Park lets only its franchisee or a town-licensed construction cleanup contractor collect, Green Cove Springs franchises C&D roll-off service, Fernandina Beach reserves collection to the city or a Commission-approved contractor, and Clay, St. Johns and Nassau counties each require a county franchise or permit in the unincorporated county. Jacksonville exempts C&D debris from its commercial franchise. Each town page says what that code says, and we tell you straight when you call.
Service area
Construction Dumpster Rental across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida
We run roll-off containers out of the Edgewood Avenue yard to every place below. Jacksonville and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the area are more likely next-day. Clay, St. Johns and Nassau counties each license or franchise haulers in their unincorporated areas, and some cities keep collection to their own franchisee — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
