Permits, placement and who may haul in Green Cove Springs

Who may haul — the rule that matters: §66-11(a)(1) makes it unlawful to provide construction and demolition service to properties in the city without a City franchise. The franchise "shall not be exclusive" (§66-11(a)(7)), runs one calendar year (§66-11(a)(3)), costs $600 a year (§66-11(b)(1)), and requires a presence in the greater Jacksonville metro area (§66-11(a)(12)). Commercial dumpster service is a separate non-exclusive franchise (§66-10). We're licensed and insured.

Placement: §66-11(a)(9)e says containers "must be placed on private property" and not on the travel portions of any sidewalk, path, bicycle path, street or alley without prior authorization from the city manager. §74-26(b)(1)q bars any obstruction of the right-of-way without a permit. A driveway placement is the simple choice, and our crew confirms the spot with you.

State roads: on an FDOT road, FDOT's rules give no permit for a roll-off in the right-of-way — Rule 14-20.008 caps waste receptacles there at 110 gallons.

Knocking something down: FDEP needs a Notice of Demolition at least 10 working days before work starts, even when no asbestos is found. Homes of four or fewer units are generally exempt, unless they are part of a bigger project, were used commercially or are coming down for a commercial building. Outside Duval the notice goes to the FDEP district or local program office for the area. Regulated asbestos cannot go to a Florida C&D facility (Rule 62-701.730(19)), so it never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Green Cove Springs

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard 7-day rental and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, with protective boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability. You do not need to be home.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it level with the top rim and keep the banned items out — tires, car and rechargeable batteries, used oil, paint, chemicals, propane tanks, asbestos, and appliances such as fridges, A/C units and water heaters. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and dispose of it right

The load goes to a permitted facility for where the job is — in Jacksonville, the sites the City designates, such as its Trail Ridge Landfill — with metal, concrete, cardboard, wood and clean yard waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Every town we cover

We run roll-off containers out of the Edgewood Avenue yard to every place below. Jacksonville and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the area are more likely next-day. Clay, St. Johns and Nassau counties each license or franchise haulers in their unincorporated areas, and some cities keep collection to their own franchisee — each page says so plainly.
