Roll-off dumpster rental in Amelia Island

Approx. 38 road miles from the yard, around 55 minutes.

Amelia Island is approx. 38 road miles northeast of the yard, around 55 minutes — same-day or next-day, depending on availability, so call early in the day. The island is not a Census place, so there is no single official population count; the City of Fernandina Beach covers only part of it.

Inside Fernandina Beach city limits, the City controls collection (§66-36). The rest of the island is unincorporated Nassau County, where a County hauler permit applies and Nassau's tree-protection rules count dumpster placement as development activity. Give us the address and we will check which applies.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Amelia Island

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • A barrier island — Nassau County describes Amelia Island as a barrier island "that contains a maritime forest," one of "the rarest coastal biological communities" (LDC §37.02.A.2).
  • Two sets of rules — Fernandina Beach code inside city limits, Nassau County code everywhere else on the island.
  • No County C&D drop-off — the County's Convenience Recycling Center takes residential waste from Nassau residents only, and not construction debris or yard waste.
  • Sandhill Recycle Center on CR108 in Yulee — the private site the County points to for construction debris and yard waste.

What comes out of Amelia Island properties

Kitchens, baths and roofs in 15s and 20s, larger remodels in 20s and 30s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete and brick. Pressure-treated (CCA) wood cannot be mulched, composted or burned in Florida (Rule 62-701.300(14)), so it goes out in the container. Lead-acid batteries, used oil, white goods and whole tires stay out — Florida bans them from landfills.

Permits, placement and who may haul on Amelia Island

Inside Fernandina Beach — the rule that matters: City Code §66-36 reserves refuse collection to the City or a City Commission franchise, so we check the City's rules before booking a container inside city limits. A roll-off there also needs a temporary use permit (LDC §5.02.06).

Unincorporated island: Nassau County Code §30½-76 makes it unlawful to collect, remove, transport or dispose of solid waste for others in the unincorporated county without a County permit, issued on a nonexclusive basis (§30½-72(b)). We're licensed and insured.

Placement: Nassau's tree-protection rules for unincorporated Amelia Island count "placement of dumpsters" as development activity that must stay inside the approved limits of disturbance (LDC §37.02). Anything in a County right-of-way goes through the County Engineer first (Ord. 99-17 §6.1.1, §8.1.1). We found no County permit for a driveway placement, and our crew confirms the spot with you.

Knocking something down: FDEP needs a Notice of Demolition at least 10 working days before work starts, even when no asbestos is found. Homes of four or fewer units are generally exempt, unless they are part of a bigger project, were used commercially or are coming down for a commercial building. Outside Duval the notice goes to the FDEP district or local program office for the area. Regulated asbestos cannot go to a Florida C&D facility (Rule 62-701.730(19)), so it never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Amelia Island

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard 7-day rental and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, with protective boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability. You do not need to be home.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it level with the top rim and keep the banned items out — tires, car and rechargeable batteries, used oil, paint, chemicals, propane tanks, asbestos, and appliances such as fridges, A/C units and water heaters. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and dispose of it right

The load goes to a permitted facility for where the job is — in Jacksonville, the sites the City designates, such as its Trail Ridge Landfill — with metal, concrete, cardboard, wood and clean yard waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Which rules apply to my address?

Inside Fernandina Beach city limits, the City's. Everywhere else on the island, Nassau County's. Give us the address and we will check.

Every town we cover

We run roll-off containers out of the Edgewood Avenue yard to every place below. Jacksonville and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the area are more likely next-day. Clay, St. Johns and Nassau counties each license or franchise haulers in their unincorporated areas, and some cities keep collection to their own franchisee — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
